The atmosphere in the waiting room of the doctor's office was stale with the smell of antiseptic and new bandages. Desmond idly flipped through a magazine, his dirty blonde hair sat recklessly atop his head. As his slender fingers turned the pages, he thought of what his trainer had said to him that morning.

"Mr. Batone, I understand you haven't had a physical in two years. You realize that's an issue if you want to remain a member of this gym, correct?"

He'd felt a stab of frustration. "I haven't had one because I haven't needed one, sir. I've felt perfectly healthy." Despite his sedentary lifestyle, he was in great shape. Choosing to attend a gym geared specifically high performance training was a lofty goal for him.
